Holocaust Remembrance Service Planned

SOUTHBURY — In 1948 the world made a promise to never forget the horrors and lessons of the Holocaust. On Sunday, April 15, at 4 pm, The Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut will hold a Yom HaShoah (Holocaust) Commemoration honoring those who perished and also those who survived.

By always remembering that promise to never forget made so long ago everyone — as a collective body — can ensure that the atrocities that occurred so long ago will not continue.

After a memorial prayer service and candle lighting, Danbury High School students will continue the program by focusing not only on the Holocaust of the six million, but will discuss the current day crisis of Darfur.

There is no charge to attend the communitywide commemoration, which will take place at 444 Main Street North. For reservations call Cynthia Burger, program director, at The Federation, 267-3177, or send email to Cburger@jfed.net.
