‘In Inner Eye: Folk Art Of India’

 At Robins Gallery September 19

RICHMOND, VA. — The Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature will present the exhibition, “The Inner Eye: Folk Art of India from the William and Ann Oppenhimer Collection,” on view September 19–December 2.

This exhibition presents works on paper from the folk art collection of Williams and Ann Oppenhimer. It includes art from two groups of contemporary folk artists, the Chitrakar scrollmakers who create narrative scrolls based on historical traditions, and Ganesh and Teju Ben and their family, who started drawing in the 1980s.

Organized by the University of Richmond Museums, the exhibition’s curators are Richard Waller, executive director, University Museums, and Kristen Malanoski, history and art history double major, University of Richmond, and Arts and Sciences 2007 Summer Research Fellow in University Museums.
