Unbeaten In Regulation

In 12 Straight Games

The Sound Tigers beat the Binghamton Senators 2-1 at home Sunday to tie the all-time franchise record for the longest unbeaten-in-regulation streak. They have not lost in regulation in 12 straight games, going 10-0-1-1 in that time.

The Sound Tigers are also on a six-game winning streak and are unbeaten in any manner in their last ten games at 9-0-1. They finished last week tied with Binghamton for second place in the East Division with 24 points and a 10-3-3-1 record, including 5-2-1-1 at home and 5-1-2 on the road. The Sound Tigers also finished last week tied with the Rochester Americans for the fewest goals against per game, 1.71, in the league.

On Sunday, the Sound Tigers – for the third time in as many games – rallied from a second-period deficit and defeated Binghamton to win, 2-1. Kevin Colley tied the score at one 7:38 into the middle frame with his second goal of the season, his first-ever at Bridgeport’s Arena at Harbor Yard, and Jeff Hamilton gave the Sound Tigers their first lead of the contest 4:58 into the third period. Hamilton’s goal was his eighth on the power play and 13th overall (both AHL highs). Dieter Kochan made 16 saves.

The Sound Tigers were 1-for-5 on the power play, 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and had a 25-17 shots on goal advantage.

Player of the Week –

G Dieter Kochan

Kochan improved his personal unbeaten-in-regulation streak to eight games at 5-0-2-1 with a 16-save win Sunday, including a highlight-reel, over-the-head kick save on Josh Langfeld, who has since been recalled by the NHL’s Ottawa Senators. Kochan is 5-2-3 in ten games this season and ranks fourth among all AHL goaltenders with a 1.61 goals against average. He also has a .936 save percentage and one shutout this season.
