Flagpole Photographers Preparing Annual Membersâ Show, Additional Events
On Saturday, March 31, Flagpole Photographers will host the opening of the clubâs Annual Photography Competition and Exhibit at C.H. Booth Library. This event gives members an opportunity to showcase their best work and earn ribbons in categories such as The Jeannette Talarino Flower Award and The Dave Kriger Nature Award.
The community is invited to the opening reception from 3:30 to 5 pm, where they can meet the photographers and vote on their favorite image for the Peopleâs Choice Award. Refreshments will be available.
The exhibit will then be available for viewing for the month of April during regular library hours; call 203-426-4533 or visit CHBoothLibrary.org for details.Â
Also Scheduled
An HDR (High Dynamic Range) Workshop will be presented by the club on Thursday, April 5, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown Congregational Church, at 14 West Street.
HDR is a technique that allows the photographer to capture a greater range between the lightest and darkest areas of a scene. It incorporates capturing the photo in a variety of exposures and then stacking them using software specifically designed for that purpose.
Experienced photographers will be available to assist attendees and instruct on basic camera functions. All levels from beginner to experienced are welcome to the free workshop. This is a hands on event, so attendees will need to bring a camera.
Flagpole Photographers Camera Club also invites the public to attend the clubâs next meeting, on Thursday, April 19, at the library.
The meeting and program will begin at 7:30 pm in the lower level meeting room (the same location where the exhibition will be presented). Members have been invited to enter photos in the subjects of âPeople Working,â Open Color, and Open Black & White. The public is welcome to attend and hear the commentary offered about each photo from a neighboring camera club judge.
Light refreshments will be provided. See the club website (www.flagpolephotographers.com) for additional information.Â
