A class will begin on October 18 at Edmond Town Hall and run approximately three months. It will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 10 and some Saturdays. This is a State of Connecticut-approved training course that includes classroom lectures, practical training, CPR certification, emergency room observation, patient assessment skills, treatment of medical conditions and injury related events, lifting and moving techniques, medical documentation and emergency medical services operations.

Upon completion of the course material and classroom sessions, students will take a State of Connecticut written and practical test. Cost is $450. Students must be 16 years of age before completion of the course.

There will be an open house and registration this Saturday, October 16, for anyone interested in taking the class. The open house will be held from 9 am until noon, at the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps garage, 77 Main Street. NVAC members will be on hand to answer questions about the course as well as the job, even on a volunteer level, of an EMT.
