Saturday Seminars At Trucking Museum

MIDDLEBURY — The Golden Age of Trucking Museum will begin its Saturday Seminar Series on January 12, with presentations by George Dragone, Dennis Davis and Robert Manchester.

The program will run from 11 am until 3 pm at the museum, 1101 Southford Road (Route 188).

Mr Dragone, of Dragone Classics in Bridgeport, will discuss restoration dos and don’ts. He will also be bringing over from his shop a 1908 Baker Electric Car. The Baker was originally used at the White House from 1908 until 1918.

A Bridgeport made 1899 Locomobile Stanhope Steam Car will also be on display. Mr Dragone will discuss the history of these and other Connecticut made vehicles.

Thomaston resident Dennis David, a noted author and International Automotive Associations member, will speak on automotive appraisals. Topics outlined for discussion are what to look for when purchasing a collector car, how to decode a VIN number, and when an appraisal is necessary. Other topics for discussion will be car collector insurance, proper storage techniques and agreed value.

Robert Manchester, from Cromwell, will also speak about the history of The Golden Age of Trucking Museum and his experiences with the museum’s founder the late Richard J. Guerrera, Sr. Mr Manchester serves as a volunteer and member of the museum’s board of directors.

All of the featured speakers will be available to answer questions and will be available for discussion following each presentation.
