Colorful balloons reading âHappy Birthdayâ floated above tables while residents of Masonicare of Newtown who were 90 years and over were recognized on Saturday, October 3 during a special event.
While all Masonicare residents who were 90 years and over were recognized, one woman and her daughter sat together at a corner table near the band playing a version of âIâll Be Seeing You,â among other songs.
Mary Jungling was celebrating her 100th birthday, with a yellow corsage around her right wrist.
Mary and her daughter Audrey Dance, who was visiting for the dayâs event and lives in Redding, are both members of the charity organization Eastern Star, which hosted the celebration for the day.
Robert Haray played drums, Joe Stelluti played saxophone, Nicol Pasternak was on vocals, and Rodger Young played the piano as entertainment.
While Mary has been a resident of Masonicare for the past three years, Audrey says she likes to go out. One recent venture was a Labor Day trip to the Blue Colony Diner, at Exit 10.
Along with other relatives, Mary is a great-grandmother to six children.
âShe likes to go out,â said Ms Dance about her mother, âand she likes family.â
Eastern Star provided the entertainment, and refreshments, along with ice cream from the Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown.
