Preston

Family And Flowers Thrived In Her Care

Marion W. Preston, 83, of Port St Lucie, Fla., formerly of Monroe and Long Island, beloved wife of the late Joseph M. Preston, died August 9, in her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of Charles H. and Gladys Cornell Woolley. 

She is survived by her five devoted children and spouses, including Michael and Ann Preston of Newtown; 11 cherished grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 25 years, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Woolley; and stepsons, Richard and Joseph Preston. 

Mrs Preston worked for the Philip Morris Co. and then worked as a floral designer for Allen’s Green House of Little Neck, L.I., for more than 25 years, until her retirement.  The Prestons spent winters in Stuart, Fla., for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo and mahjong, as well as crafting ornate dolls from pins and beads.  She will be remembered for her green thumb, and the beautiful plants and flowers that thrived in her care. 

Funeral services took place August 15, in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, Ansonia. Interment was in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
