Uncover The Mysteries Of Flight
With Wind Over Wings Program
DERBY â The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protectionâs Kellogg Environmental Center, in conjunction with the Naugatuck Valley Audubon Society, will host âRaptors of Connecticut: The Mysteries of Flight and Migrationâ on Monday, October 18 at 8 pm. Hope Douglas and Karen Hannon of Wind Over Wings will conduct the program.
Did you ever wonder how birds fly, or how they migrate? This is your chance to find out about the mysteries of flight. Wind Over Wings, a wildlife rehabilitation and education center, will bring several non-releasable birds of prey to show you how it is done. There will be a Barred Owl to show silent flight, an American Kestrel, one of the greatest fliers in the world, a broad-winged hawk to discuss hunting in various habitats, and a Red-Tailed Hawk to show off a birdâs beautiful feathers.
For more information and directions, call the Center at 734-2513 between 9 am and 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. At $2 donation is being suggested to assist with the cost of the program.
The Kellogg Environmental Center, operated by the DEPâs Office of Communications and Education, is at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (Route 34) in Derby.
