Blue & Gold Booster Club Presentations Planned
The NHS Blue & Gold Booster Club is planning to undertake a major project: To revitalize the Blue & Gold Stadium at Newtown High School.
The project will include the revitalization of the athletic fields at the high school, including replacing the current turf with a rubberized synthetic playing field, the building of two field houses (one to offer restrooms and storage space for the NHS Marching Band and the other to provide another set of restrooms and equipment storage for the softball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey teams), a stadium storage building for additional sports equipment, the addition of 800 new seats and the improvement of existing seating, and the creation of a food court.
Dan Barrett, the president of the NHS Blue & Gold Booster Club, will be offering three presentations for the community in upcoming weeks. Anyone interested in learning more about the project or would like to volunteer to help is invited to attend.
The presentations will be in NHS Room 107-A on Thursdays, September 22, September 29 and October 6. The programs will begin at 7:30 pm.
Volunteers and sponsors at all levels are needed to make this project a success. Mr Barrettâs presentation will cover what needs to be done at the stadium and the cost of each step in the revitalization process, as well as various sponsor programs that have been created to reach those goals.
The booster club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to lend financial and volunteer assistance to Newtown High Schoolâs athletic programs. Its mission is to promote the development of NHS athletics together with team, school, parent and community spirit to enhance the NHS experience.
