GREGORY KUHARIC WILL GIVE TALK AT APPRAISERS FORUM IN NYC OCT. 1

avv/gs set 9/13 #712234

NEW YORK CITY — On Monday, October 1, the Appraisers Association of America will present the first of six lectures in the 2007–2008 Freeman’s Lecture Series, with speaker Gregory Kuharic, a renowned potter and respected authority on Twentieth Century decorative arts.

The lecture will address the current state of the new and emerging contemporary studio ceramics art market — both regional and international. Kuharic will cover notable artisans of the day and their contributions to the field, as well as today’s market for collectibles — in particular condition and values.

Kuharic, of Antiques Roadshow fame, is multitalented consultant and authority not only in the area of ceramics but also on all of the decorative arts of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries, in particular furniture. He has spent 15 years at Sotheby’s as vice president of Twentieth Century Decorative Arts. Kuharic’s own whimsical ceramic sculptures are now in many major New York Twentieth Century art galleries, and his articles appear in numerous decorative arts publications.

Established in 1949, the Appraisers Association of America is the oldest nonprofit international association of personal property appraisers with approximately 800 members in more than 600 sub-specializations of all areas of fine arts, antiques and arcane collectibles.

Lectures are sponsored by Freeman’s Auctions, and are held monthly at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, 20th Street between Irving Place and Park Avenue South. Jacket and tie required. Lectures begin at 6 pm; reception follows at 7.

AAA/ISA/ASA/RICS/NAC members free; general admission $15. For reservations, call 212-889-5404, extension 11.
