Breastfeeding And

Parenting Conference

SOUTHBURY — La Leche League of Connecticut’s 26th Breastfeeding and Parenting Conference will be held on Saturday, March 12, at the Hilton Southbury in Southbury. The conference is open to the public.

La Leche League is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization offering information, encouragement, and support to mothers interested in breastfeeding.

The conference, with the theme “The Future in Our Arms,” is being held to provide a forum where parents, grandparents, health care providers, and interested persons can come together to share their experiences and learn about breastfeeding, childbirth, nutrition, and parenting issues.

Many parenting topics will be covered, from the more serious: setting limits for your toddler, child and teen, to the seriously fun: learning to make homemade toys. Other session topics will include tips for fathers, nighttime parenting, and of course breastfeeding issues. Storytelling and music sessions will be available for children.

Sharon Matuszek, member of La Leche League International’s board of directors, and Dia Michels, author of Milk, Money and Madness: The Culture and Politics of Breastfeeding, will be the special guest speakers.

Additional information and registration forms may be obtained at www.lllusa.org/CT/CT.html or from Chrys Prip by emailing her at chrysprip@aol.com .
