Wishing The Council Success
To the Editor,
It seems odd to be writing a letter of thanks to the voters of Newtown for having not re-elected me, and yet I find myself compelled to do so. It has been a privilege to have served two terms on the Legislative Council, and I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with individuals whose dedication and commitment is nothing short of remarkable. I now realize that the surest way to appreciate the efforts of this monumental task is to sit behind your nameplate while speculating upon the potential outcome of your actions on the taxpayers of Newtown. It is an awesome and very often daunting experience.
What I am most grateful for, however, is the sincere outpouring of support I received following my less than successful showing at the polls. Thank you all for your words of encouragement and gratitude; it was genuinely moving to hear from so many friends and well-wishers.
To the Legislative Council of the next millennium, I wish you continued success (and a sizable Y2K windfall as well). Iâll be watching from the peanut gallery.
Sincerely,
Lisa Schartz
