Cartooning & Animation

For The Younger Artists

C.H. Booth Library is offering a free program, “Cartooning & Animation,” on Tuesday, August 12, for those ages 10 and up or entering fifth grader or higher in the fall.

The library asks that younger siblings are not left with those participating in the program.

From 3 t 5 pm, Ron Gagliardi will discuss traditional cartooning and animation techniques, and also teach a method he calls Numlets®, which utilizes numbers and letters to “build” cartoon drawings of original characters and also makes it easier to duplicate other cartoonists’ characters.

Mr Gagliardi, an experienced art teacher, teaches cartooning throughout Connecticut.

“I look forward to meeting children and introducing them to the intriguing world of cartooning,” says Mr Gagliardi. “My students often experience a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that carries far beyond this short workshop.

“The techniques I teach are applicable in their classrooms and in their art rooms,” he continued. “They often experience the same mentoring feeling that I enjoy when they arrive back in their neighborhoods and their schools and get to share their success and knowledge with their friends.”

The library, at 25 Main Street in Newtown, can be reached for registration at 426-4533. In-person registration is also accepted at the main floor circulation desk.
