WILLIAMSBURG POTTERY COMPLEX FOR SALE

AVV 5-5 #738233

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — The Williamsburg Pottery is up for sale.

The landmark site along US 60 just north of Williamsburg started in 1938 as a roadside shop selling surplus pieces from James E. Maloney’s kiln. It grew into a complex of retail shops that initially provided the economic draw to the area’s outlet shopping.

In recent years, the pottery has struggled with Maloney’s death and the rapid growth of the nearby Prime Outlets.

The 1,200-acre site covers 21 parcels and includes the pottery shopping complex and an adjacent campground.

US Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, is handling the sale. Bids would be taken until July 1. US Trust officials declined to discuss a suggested price.
