WHITE HOUSE OF THE CONFEDERACY CLOSES FOR RESTORATION UNTIL MARCH

AVV 120-19 #723383

RICHMOND, VA. (AP) — The White House of the Confederacy will be closed for two months while crews work on restoring the museum in downtown Richmond.

Museum officials said in a news release that the building, the executive mansion of Confederate president Jefferson Davis from 1861 to 1865, will be closed in January and February.

Projects planned for the museum next year include replacing worn carpets, painting, installing draperies and a new fire-suppression system and repairs to the front porch.

The museum will reopen for daily tours in March.
