Rabies Vaccine Clinic A Success

To the Editor:

Last Saturday we held our 16th annual Low Cost Anti-Rabies Clinic in Newtown which once again was a success. We vaccinated approximately 182 cats and dogs. This clinic was made possible by two local veterinarians, Dr Rosemarie Cherrie of the Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals and Dr Neal Warner of the Newtown Animal Clinic and their assistants, Terri Predzimirski and James Kaechele, who donated their time and service – my very special thanks to each of them.

I would also like to extend many thanks to the following volunteers from the Newtown Woman’s Club, who for the ninth year assisted at the clinic – Marilyn Alexander, Mary Antey, Marcia Cavanaugh, Pat Denlinger, Paulette Jurewicz, Joan O’Neil, Marion Thompson, Barb Urbanski, and Lorraine Vanderwende. Special thanks also go to George Mattegat, Newtown’s dog warden, who also helped out. Thanks also to Paula Murphy who coordinated the clinic for the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, Susan Shpunt, Blithe Dotson and Carol Mayhew, from the town clerk’s office, were also on hand and issued the new 2001 dog licenses.

Thanks again to all who helped to make this clinic a success.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Curtis Simon, CMC, Town Clerk
