To Fight For Hawleyville PO
WASHINGTON, D.C. â Congressman Christopher Murphy announced his intentions this week to ensure that the United States Postal Service (USPS) finds a permanent solution to housing the Hawleyville Post Office. Health and safety concerns at the current facility have caused the USPS to examine a relocation of its operations. Local residents have contacted Murphyâs office to express their concerns that the USPS should be coming up with a long-term solution to this matter that ensures the continued existence of a Hawleyville Post Office.
âFor generations, Hawleyville residents have been served by their local post office. The news of a temporary location and the uncertainty surrounding a permanent solution to this problem has caused residents understandable concern. I am well aware of this issue, and will pursue a solution that satisfies the townâs residents,â said Mr Murphy.
In meetings and conversations with the Congressmanâs office, the USPS has indicated its appreciation of the townâs attachment to the Hawleyville Post Office and its intention to find a permanent resolution to the situation. In the meantime, the USPS is attempting to obtain a ground permit for temporary trailers.
âI intend to hold the USPS to their assurance that they intend to work with the community to find a suitable location in Hawleyville,â said Mr Murphy.
