Upcoming Area Blood Drives

The American Red Cross will be holding blood drives in Danbury, Southbury, and Newtown in the coming weeks.

A blood drive on Saturday, May 1, from 8 am to 1 pm, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 330 Main Street, Danbury (next to the bus station). Appointments are in 15-minute increments and begin at 8 am. All interested donors should contact Pam Young at 794-9234 for an appointment. The blood drive is sponsored by the church, which has its main building on Saw Mill Road in Newtown.

There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive on Sunday, May 2, from 9 am until 2 pm at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North in Southbury. Each donor will be given a specific appointment time. To register, call the Federation at 267-3177.

A blood drive will be held at Edmond Town Hall in Newtown from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm on Wednesday, May 12. Call 800-GIVE-LIFE.

Any healthy person at least 17 years of age, weighing at least 110 pounds, can donate blood every 56 days. There is no upper age limit.
