The Language Of The Past

BROOKFIELD CENTER — Peter Cronin, a member of the Brookfield Historical Society board, will host a free lecture on “The Language of Brookfield’s Past” on Wednesday, July 26, at 7:30 pm. The program will be in the society’s museum, located at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133.

The discussion will focus on expressions, terms and idioms once popular in our language but no longer in use today such as “Don’t touch that dial” — a favorite of TV advertisers before remote controls came into use.

The public is invited and admission only requires attendants to recall and share a now out-of-date expression or word they often heard or used in years past that has faded from our everyday language. After the discussion complimentary refreshments will be served.

Call 740-8140 for additional information.
