Girls U14
Norwalk 2, Power 1 â Molly Mahony scored early in the second half, but Newtown was not able score again in a loss to Norwalk. Jessica Jowdy had an excellent game sparking her team in the second half with help from Hannah Maret, Alex Klein and Ashley Cirone.
Ridgefield 3, Power 1 â Jessica Jowdy scored the lone goal for Newtown in a loss to Ridgefield. Nora Murphy and Kendall Svanda shined on offense. Strong performances were also turned in by Katie Peters, Celeste Cheung and Christina Caporale.
Boys U13
Columbus Day Tournament
Cobras 2, Trumbull 0 â Noah Sock and Stephen Conway (his first of the season) scored to lift the Cobras past Trumbull. Kieran Lardner had an assist. Ricky Fuentes and Yossi Kohrman-Glaser played a strong and aggressive game as did the defense led by keeper Sean Elliott and fullbacks Alec Lockhart and Robert Willis.
Cobras 2, Ledyard 0 â Noah Sock and Yossi Kohrman-Glaser scored in a win over Trumbull. Pieter Martino had an assist. Devin DiNicola launched a rocket that just missed, as did Drew Sullivanâs exciting header. On the defensive side, it was another shut out for the keeper combination of Sean Elliott and Robert Willis. Sweeper Matt Rahtelli controlled the backfield like a bulldog.
Cobras 2, Ridgefield 1 â Noah Sock scored and Kieran Lardner added the second goal, assisted by Stephen Conway, to lead the Cobras. Ian Solaski and Richard Greenwood played aggressively upfront while Colin Moller and Pieter Martino powered the midfield.
Tolland 1, Cobras 0 â Stephen Conway, Colin Moller and Devin DiNicola was strong in the middle, but the Cobras lost a heartbreaker in the tournament finals. Sean Elliott had a great game in goal with many impressive saves. He was aided by solid defensive efforts from Matt Rahtelli, Alec Lockhart and Robert Willis.
Girls U13
Flash 2, Norwalk 1 â Stephanie Roman scored off an assist by Kelly Brooks and Lindsay Jossick scored off an assist by Lydia Beiter to lead the Flash to the win Midfielder, Jilliana Ciamarra hounded Norwalk at every opportunity. Katie Shirley was powerful in her defensive positions. Kyra Murray moved the ball well offensively.
Girls U12
Jaguars 2, Darien 2 â Lindsay Jagoe and Taylor Brady scored to lead the Jaguars in a draw with Darien. Sally Martinelli provided an assist. Tess Murray and Gabby DeBartolomeo controlled the back line and Angela Halili was stellar in the midfield.
Girls U11
Lightning 2, Ridgefield 0 (State Cup) â Jessica Keller and Kailee Dunnigan scored as the Lightning powered past Ridgefield to advance to the State Cup Final Four. Keller and Siena Cicarelli controlled the midfield, backed up with strong play by Meghan Korchman on D. Dale Shearin and Emily Riley anchored the nets for the shut-out. The Lightning will take on Westport at home on Saturday, October 27, in the State Cup semifinals.
Lightning 3, Greenwich 2 â Sarah Lynch had two goals and an assist and Kailee Dunnigan scored one as the Lightning defeated Greenwich. Michelle Zarifis and Shelby Tolla battled in the midfield, while Kate Fallon and Caroline Tanner played well in goal.
Boys U11
Greenwich 3, White Lightning 0 â Sawyer Conrad, Michael Cook, Constant Gregoire and Luca Imbimbo played well in the midfield in a loss to Greenwich.. The strikers who dominated play in the first half were Ryan King, Jeremy Doski and Anthony Vournazos. Michael Biancardi also had several fine plays.
Boys U10
Strikers 4, Greenwich 2 â Bryce Mather scored three goals in the Strikersâ first district win against Greenwich. Chris Healy scored the fourth goal to insure the win, while Cole Rogalin was a key offensive presence making needed passes and covering the field well. Robby Schreiber rounded out the offense, while Alex Gerbo and Paul OâLeary kept the pressure on defensively. James Carney played well in goal, blocking several attempts on goal by Greenwich in the second half.
Girls U10
Comets 2, Shelton 2 â Kelsey Muniz and Julia Schoeni scored as the Comets drew even with Shelton. Brenna Kelly and Alyssa Ruefenacht had the assists. Superb goal tending by Kim Brello and Katie Mossbarger kept the opponents from breaking ahead. The solid defensive work of Haley Trudell, especially in the first half, helped the cause as well. Portia Baudisch and Casey Harkins provided a nice offensive spark.
IN-HOUSE
Boys U14
Boots 3, Strykerz 1 â Stephen Jarvis scored twice to lead the Boots to the win. Luke Piazza had an assist while Henry Summ and Brad Kretz were both very active at midfield. For The Strykerz, Chad Cullens scored the goal. Sean Watkins was a force on both offense and defense as Nick Klein and goalie Charlie Poarch anchored a tough defense.
Girls U14
That Team 1, Pumas 0 â Aoife Flanagan scored the lone goal off an assist by Maggie Kost. Michaela Beaudry and Lauren Meyer had strong games at defense and Bonnie Buchetto played excellent in goal. For the Pumas, Marysa Audet and Jennifer OâGrady played a strong game on defense. Hayley Dunn and Kelly OâConnell played well on offense and Sara Rohde was good in goal.
Boys U10
Strikers 4, Tigers 3 â Greg Thiele scored two goals as Jamie Cochrane and Richard Ciamarra added one apiece to lead the Strikers to the win. Alec Hersh had a pair of assists and Mike Barko was strong on D. For the Tigers, Tony Leonardi scored two goals and Patrick Berger added one. Kevin Finnegan and Tucker Kirstner played well.
Oskars 5, Blue Dragons 1 â Albert Dean scored 2 goals, Tommy Shaker played great defense, William Roberts was great in goal, and Grant Untied-Obre had a great offensive game to lead the Oskars. For the Blue Dragons, Scott Martin scored the lone goal as David Grossman and Boris Kudlac great defensively. Felix Summ and Andrey Masser had fine field games.
Girls U10
Bulldogs 4, Turf Devils 2 â Two goals each by Eliza Eggleston and Maddie Strokis lifted the âDogs to the win. Strong goaltending by Anna Buzzanca and strong overall support by Hanna Bellagamba and Emma Horne were key. For the Turf Devils, there was a strong performance in the goal by Megan Olszewski, strong defense by Anita Luxtearanayagam and nice overall play by Brittney Antous and Lucy Helgren.
Blazing Monkeys 4, Bulldogs 1 â Christina DeBartolomeo scored twice and Kate Laaksonen and Sophia DeVivo netted goals as well for the Blazing Monkeys. Maren Brady and Faith Pereira were solid in goal while Megan Weber played a solid all around game. Maddie Strokis scored the goal for the Bulldogs and Megan Milano and Lizzie Wojcik were outstanding in goal. Brianna Lutz and Samantha Dion both played a solid two way game.
Boys U8
Blue Sharks 2, Firekickers 0 â Drew Tienken played a stellar offensive game while Andrew Lee scored the two goals to lift the Sharks. Christian Adam and Justin Cicarelli both held strong in defense positions while Kyle Roche protected the goal. For the Firekickers, Reed Hammond and Colin Dunn played strong offensive games. Danny Arneth and Grant Larson were both good at defense while Aidan Ford helped as goalie.
Great Whites 4, Cobras 0 â Thomas Leuci scored twice with Alex Hess and Ryan  Brello each adding a goal for the Great Whites. Thomas Briscoe and Charles Romano played well. Dylan Sock, Matt Guinee, Jack Bittman and Tyler Trede all played well for the Cobras.
United 2, Blue Hurricanes 1 â Dylan Kretz scored a goal and played strong in the nets for the United. Matthew Bucci scored a goal and played stellar defense as Ryan Harvey provided another strong showing in goals and on defense. CJ Trivers and Danny Gruber both showed a lot of heart and hustle in the midfield. Nicholas Harper scored for the Blue Hurricanes with help from Danny Schreiber on offense. Strong defensive plays were made by Ian Klepacki and Barret DeYoung.
Real Mohawks 4, Bulldogs 2 â Three goals by Conner Mayer and one by Matthew Tassiello, along with solid defense by Nathan Sanchez, led the Real Mohawks to the win. For the Bulldogs, Evan Eggleston and Matthew Krasnickas had one goal apiece. Strong defensive play by Jack Vaughan and strong overall play by Owen Rahr and Ryan Escoda were key.
Girls U8
Wolverines 3, American Eagles 1 â Jessica Maturo and Maya Neuhoff scored nice goals to earn the hard-fought victory for the Wolverines. Maggie Beardsley played an outstanding game on both sides of the ball. Emily Neave scored on a breakaway for the American Eagles. Olivia Butler contributed a tenacious defensive game, while Cecilia Schoeni and Erin Burns played great all-around games.
Girls U6
Fighting Irish 8, Rhinos 6 â Audrey Benson, Alison Kelleher, Makayla Manoni and Sarah Tressler all notched goals for the Irish in a Girls U6 scoring frenzy. Maggie Sheridan and Nicole Keeping played outstanding on offense and defense. For the Rhinos, Angela and Veronica Vodola scored two goals apiece as Keeley Kortze and Madison Ziperstein added solo goals.
Cheetahs 1, Tigers 0 â Lauren Adams scored the goal for the Cheetahs while Malia Gioffre kept up the offensive pressure. Izzy Mawdsley played great defense and Sarah Holcomb was outstanding in the goal. The Tigerâs Alexandra Chatzikonstantinou, Tess Hubbard, Moira McKinley and Julianna Russo all played well.
