*Inspired by everyone from Beethoven to Tori Amos — and featured in this week’s Enjoy section — JENNIFER ZULLI will return to Mocha Coffee House in Sandy Hook to open this weekend’s musical offerings. Check out Nancy Crevier’s feature, and then go check out Jennifer for yourself, tonight (Oct 16) at 8.

Tomorrow night the music will be performed by CHELSEA GENZANO, who has been playing piano since she was four and taught herself how to play guitar by age 11. She’s been performing in coffee houses and bars since age 13 (I’m not asking how, I’m just reporting what I’m being told), and will bring her acoustic show to Sandy Hook on October 17.

Next weekend’s music will include acoustic folk rock by KEVIN “FRANK” TELLIE on Friday night, and then a musical free-for-all on October 24 when BILL DEVLIN & FRIENDS take the corner at 3 Glen Road.

*Music at 127 South Main Street in Newtown — a/k/a The Blue Z Coffee House — will begin with singer-songwriter MEAGAN SACCO on Friday, and then MR PHIL’S BIRTHDAY PARTY on Saturday, featuring performances by Phil Hovey, Hert and Harrison.

Friday’s show starts at 7, and Saturday will get going around 6:30.

*OLD SCHOOL — the duo of Tony Summo and Lou Bellofatto — will return to Proud Mary’s at The Inn at Newtown next weekend.

Tony plays guitar, Lou does the keyboards thing, and they bring along custom recorded tracks to give them a full band sound. The guys will be at the lounge at 19 Main Street on Friday, October 23, starting around 8.

*Also next weekend, THE WAY-BACK MACHINE will return to The Black Duck in Westport for another performance of music from the 60s and 70s. That shows will be on Saturday, October 24, starting at 9:30.

*I’m not sure if it was the “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant category The Rocky Horror Picture Show fell into when it was selected for preservation in 2005 for the US National Film Registry, but it’s certainly one of my significant favorites.

Get ready to enjoy The Time Warp all over again, because it’s time for midnight showings of the Tim Curry-Susan Sarandon, et al film, and Mohegan Sun Casino brought the first one of the season to my attention this week.

The casino’s Cabaret Theatre will host a free midnight screening on Halloween. Doors will open at 11, costumes — and yelling back at the movie on cue — are definitely encouraged, and seating will be first come, first served.

While dressing up is definitely part of the evening, those planning to attend should be aware of a few groundrules: Face paint will be allowed in common areas of the casino but not on the gaming floor. Also, masks will be restricted to the inside of the theater only, and squirt guns will be prohibited.

Does anyone beside me remember when that show was staged at the former Candlewood Theater in New Fairfield? That was a great show!

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
