Esther M. (Dolny) Grosner, 71, beloved wife of George J. Grosner of Newtown, died December 14 at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport on November 4, 1936, a daughter of Michael and Mary (Sakala) Dolny.
Mrs Grosner was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a degree in chemistry. She taught chemistry, physics, and mathematics for one year at Milford High School and for 19 years at Masuk High School in Monroe, and was a member of CEA and NEA.
A resident of Newtown since 1962, Mrs Grosner was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Parish and was a longtime member of the choir. She was also active with the St Rose Prayer Shawl Ministry. Mrs Grosner was previously a Girl Scout leader.
In addition to her husband, Mrs Grosner is survived by her children, George Grosner, Jr, of Westborough, Mass., Mary Grosner of New Milford, Susan Berlew of Kingston, N.Y., Michael Grosner of San Diego, Calif., and Mark Grosner of Brookfield; a brother, Edward Dolny and his wife, Virginia, of Milford; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Isaac Grosner, Sarah Burlew, Aidan, Dominic, Matthew, and Nicholas Grosner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church December 19. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.
