Carmela Saggese Cassano

Touched The Hearts Of Those She Knew

Carmela “Millie” Saggese Cassano, 79, died July 17, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a leap year baby, born February 29, 1932, in New York to Theresa and Ernesto Saggese.

Mrs Cassano is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Anthony; her three children, including Donna Kakadeles of Newtown; five grandchildren; a brother; and other relatives.

She grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and married Anthony Cassano, November 14, 1953. She worked at several local companies, retiring from Union Carbide/Praxair in 1991. She was a parishioner of St Joseph’s Church in Danbury for 47 years. She also was a regular member of a senior bowling league and was an avid bridge player.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 21. The Green Funeral Home, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.
