Stamp Of Approval For Passport Event

To the Editor:

On behalf of SHOP, I would like to thank everyone who participated in and attended the first annual Passport to Sandy Hook this past Saturday. The event was made a success by each of the over 200 people who attended the event, the 25 participating Sandy Hook merchants, and several of our sponsors.

We would like to especially thank Newtown Savings Bank, who graciously sponsored the live I-95 broadcast, and also furnished the drawing’s Grand Prize — 14 seats to the Ringling Brothers Circus.

We would also like to thank the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company and Chief Bill Halstead, who was on hand with their fire police to aid with traffic safety, as well as providing the trucks and manpower to collect and deliver the food donations to the FAITH Food Pantry. Thanks also go out to Haas Insurance, Connecticut Counselors, and Pediatric Heart Specialists for providing the bounce house at 107 Church Hill Road for the children.

Thanks to our musicians for the day, John Voket, Crystal Pyramid, and The Screw Ups. All three bands donated their time, and provided some great entertainment. We also want to thank The Graceful Planet Dancers for the “flash mob” dance. Also, thanks to Sarah Hemingway for designing the passports, and photographs for the website. And last but not least, a big thanks to our event planning committee who made this day possible.
