More Company For Commuters

To the Editor:

Attention All Commuters!

Do you wish you had more company on the road during your morning and evening commutes?

Does waiting in a back-up a quarter of a mile or more to get to the light at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 25 make you jump for joy?

Well then, all your wishes may come true if the Hawleyville mixed-use complex gets approved.

For those who don’t know, there are plans in the works for a church, 24-hour diner, and apartment complex.  All of this to be located in the small section of land between the exit 9 on/off ramps and Cov-ered Bridge Road.  There will be a total of more than 700 parking spaces with the apartment complex alone having 432.  That is a lot of added commuters entering onto Route 25.  But, as traffic engineer, Michael Galante, has stated at P&Z meetings, it will only impact high traffic times, such as the morn-ing and evening commute….perfect!

So, if you like the thought of an additional 200-400 cars joining you on your daily trek to and from work, or the store, then just keep quiet and don’t say anything.  If, however, you would not appreciate extra company on the road with you, then perhaps let your feelings be known.  Come to a P&Z meeting or send a letter!

Happy Travels!
