Edwin Hoit

Paul, Esq

Engineer, Lawyer, Sportsman,

And Family Man

Edwin Hoit Paul, Esq, 73, of Norfolk, Mass., died peacefully, February 7, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Yvonne Marie (Anderson) Paul. Born in Framingham, Mass., July 13, 1938, he was the son of Doris C. (Stoddard) and Edwin H. Paul.

In addition to his wife, five daughters and a son, including Christine Ann Paul-Sudbey, and husband Mark, of Sandy Hook; 11 grandchildren; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews and their families survive Mr Paul.

He earned a BS in engineering from Brown University and continued his education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, achieving a master of science in electrical engineering.

Mr Paul employed for more than 20 years as an engineer, with Honeywell International and with Waters Associates in Milford, Mass. He followed a longtime interest by going to school at night to study law, received a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University, and embarked on his new career working with Perkins Smith and Cohen of Boston. He was currently employed with Cesari and McKenna LLP, specializing in patent law.

Most happy among his large family, Mr Paul was a history buff and wordsmith who enjoyed sharing his knowledge with those around him. He was an enthusiastic sportsman who excelled at squash, racquetball, and golf.

Mr Paul greatly supported his children’s endeavors and had been particularly active with the BSA Norfolk Troop 80 and as a supporter for the Norfolk 4H Cottontail Club, as well as the music program at King Philip Regional School. He also found time to dabble in local politics and liked a good game of Cribbage.
