The NYS Annual Talent Show is Friday, May 7. Tickets are $2 for children 12 and under and $5 for everyone else. Videos will once again be available at a cost of $15. Call NYS for tickets.

PTSA Meeting
The next meeting will be held at Newtown High School on Wednesday, May 5, at 7 pm.

Gail Smith Awards
Three awards will be given, one to an adult, one to a youth, and one to a business. Ballots are available at NYS, the C.H. Booth Library and the Newtown Drug Center. All nominations must be received by noon on May 7. The awards will be presented on Monday, May 24, at 7 pm.

Outstanding Youth Awards
As part of the âCelebrate Youth Festival,â NYS will be presenting awards to young people from the community at a ceremony on Thursday, May 27, at 4 pm.
Nominees will be judged on outstanding qualities in the following categories, Service to Others, Babysitting, Friend, Sister/Brother or any outstanding quality. Ballots are available at NYS, the C.H. Booth Library and the Newtown Drug Center. Deadline is May 7 at noon. The awards will be presented on Thursday, May 27, at 4 pm.

Volunteers Needed
NYS will be moving soon and is seeking much assistance. Anyone who can lend a hand in any way would certainly be appreciated. This is also a great opportunity for community service. Call NYS if you would like to spend some time helping us.
Job Bank
Job Bank is a service available to residents in need of assistance with jobs such as yard work, snow removal, babysitting, help with parties, computers, office work, and more. Contact Erin at NYS with your job request and she can suggest a fee schedule appropriate for each job situation.
Moms Groups
Moms of Babies birth to 12 months: Tuesdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am.
Moms of Toddlers 12 to 18 months: Thursdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am.
Parent Programs
Parent Connection is an organization formed by concerned parents and other informed citizens of Newtown to address the problem of substance use and abuse in our community.
The next Parent Connection forum, a discussion between students and parents on substance abuse, has been changed from April 14 to April 28, at 7 pm, at Newtown Middle School. Due to sensitive subject matter, this will be a PARENTS ONLY forum.
Hope and Support Group: If you are a parent with questions or concerns about your childâs possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are invited to attend the Hope and Support group. This group meets Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Parentsâ Corner. All are welcome.
Youth Programs
Super Sitters: Dates for the June session are going to be June 28â30 and July 1â2 from 1 to 2:30 pm. Fee is $40. Only a few spots remain. Call to register.
Children of Divorce Support Group: Meets the first and third Monday of the month. The next meeting will be Monday, April 26, from 6 to 7:15 pm.
Sib-Shops Support Group: For siblings of children who have disabilities will meet the second Monday of the month. The next meeting will be Monday, May 10, from 5 to 7 pm. For questions or further information contact Laurie at NYS.
4H: Grades 5 and 6, Tuesdays, 3 to 4:30 pm. Meetings will be held at the Greenhouse.
HYSAB: The next meeting will be Monday, April 26, at 5:45 pm.
MSYAB: Will continue to work on Coins for the Cure with the Newtown Middle School Interact Club
NYCAAP: (Newtown Youth Creating AIDS Awareness for Peers) Call for meeting schedule.
