European Paintings At Dumouchelles

DETROIT, MICH. -- DuMouchelle's Art Galleries January sale was highlighted by
European paintings.
A Walter Daniel Batley, entitled "Sisters," brought $13,000. The artist
Michele Cascella had a strong showing, with two of his pastels bringing $7,000
bids.
Other paintings included a Flemish Nineteenth Century oil on wood panel, which
realized $6,500; a Nineteenth Century European Old Master painting, which sold
for $3,500; and "Paris Street Scene," by Jules Herve, which garnered $3,000.
Also of interest, a Louis XV style tulipwood bureau plat, circa 1900,
commanded $6,000; a pair of Louis XV walnut fauteuils, Nineteenth Century,
realized $2,500; a Nineteenth Century English carved walnut trestle base
library table gathered $3,000; and an English pine harvest table from the
1900s sold for $2,750.
Jewelry items included a platinum and diamond lady's ring from the 1920s era,
which clinched at $6,500 bid; a smaller platinum and diamond lady's ring which
settled at $2,750; and a yellow gold and diamond gentleman's ring which
brought $4,250.
Prices do not include a 15 percent buyer's premium.
