Rehs Galleries Features On-Line Exhibition
NEW YORK CITY -- Rehs Galleries, Inc, specializing in important Academic and
Realist works of the Nineteenth Century, will add its first update to its
recently launched web site -- "Daniel Ridgway Knight -- His Years at
Rolleboise." This exhibition features 14 important paintings that were sold by
the gallery and were executed during the artist's stay in Rolleboise.
Among the works that have been included are "The Grape Harvest" (Knight's
Paris Salon entry of 1905) and "Maria and Madeleine on the Terrace" -- a
marvelous, early work from this period featuring two of Ridgway Knight's
prettiest models.
The works illustrated span almost the entire period -- the earliest dating
from circa 1898 and ending with his large, important work entitled
"Spring-time," painted in 1921. Along with the exhibition is a short biography
of the artist.
The site can be reached by typing in either "Rehsgalleries.com" or "Rehs.com"
and clicking on the "Virtual Exhibitions" page. The first of these exhibitions
features the works of the French Realist artist Julien Dupre (1851-1910).
All images have been scanned in high-resolution format and each work can be
enlarged for a more detailed inspection. Though none of the works featured in
the exhibit is available for sale, the gallery currently has three works by
the artist in inventory.
Rehs Galleries, Inc is located at 5 East 57th Street. Telephone 212/355-5710.
