Otto F.           Bernschein

Otto F. Bernschein, 88, of Bridgeport, formerly of Norwalk, died January 19 in his home.

Born in New York, son of the late Friedrich Otto Bernschein and Clara Marie Brinkmann Bernschein, he had been a Norwalk  resident since 1955 prior to moving to Bridgeport in 1996. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Constance Bergdahl Bernschein.

Survivors include his four beloved daughters, Virginia (Ginny) Allison Vaast and her husband Michael of Newtown, Lynn Carol Traussi and her husband Peter of Bridgeport, Constance Nicole (Nicki) Harris and her husband Joseph of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Christine Ann Bernschein of Norwalk; his loving companion and friend Jean Tierney of Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Brett, Gregory, Marc, and Aaron Traussi, Melissa and Kristin Vaast, and Dana Chencharick; and 7 great-grandchildren.

 He was a retired employee of Fletcher Thompson Incorporated in Bridgeport.  Mr Bernschein was a member of the Masonic Order, A.F.&.A.M.  He was an avid New York Rangers and New York Giants fan as well as a devoted fan of the UConn Women Huskies basketball team. 

A  funeral service was held January 24 at First Church Congregational, Fairfield.  Interment followed in the Evergreens Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
