Hats Off To Spring
Hats Off To Spring
DERBY â To celebrate the opening of a new season at Osborne Homestead Museum, a spring social will be hosted Saturday, April 21, from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
During the program âHats Off to Spring,â learn how the former practice of decorating hats with feathers led to conversationists joining together to protect birds. Participants will then decorate straw hats with fun and environmentally-friendly materials.
While wearing these festive hats, visitors will then be able to tour the Osborne Homestead Museum and the surrounding gardens. The activity will also celebrate Earth Day.
The program costs $3 per hat; tours of the museum are free. To register for âHats Off to Spring,â call the Kellogg Environmental Center at 203-734-2513.
Beginning April 21, Osborne Homestead Museum also is open for the season, with guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays, from 10 am to 3 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sundays from noon to 4 pm. Group tours can be arranged by contacting the museum.
The Osborne Homestead Museum, operated by the state DEP, is at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (Route 34) in Derby.
