NHS Hockey Team Wins Third Straight One-Goal Contest
Newtown High School's hockey team won its third consecutive one-goal game, and played its fourth straight nail-biter with a 4-3 overtime win over visiting East Haven, at Danbury Ice Arena on January 16.

After East Haven tied it to force OT, Brestovansky wasted little time giving Newtown's its fourth one-goal victory of the winter.
"Brestovansky's goal was beautiful — absolutely beautiful," Newtown Coach Paul Esposito said of the winning tally. "He really was patient, he made the goalie move, and picked the top right corner. It was a great way to win the game — highlight reel."
Goaltender Markus Paltauf made 29 saves to help get the game to overtime.
"He's really playing well. We're really impressed with him. He's out backbone," Esposito said of his netminder.Mike McCann and Andrew Gardner also had solid games for the Nighthawks, the coach said.

Esposito thought his team was a bit flat early in the game but stepped it up late. "I think they came out with a little more spark in the third period," he said.
