To the Editor:
Iâve lived in Newtown my whole life and this is the first time Iâve felt compelled to write a letter of endorsement. Itâs not that Iâve never cared about elections, I have, and I have to imagine that the issues important to me are the same ones that are important to so many Newtown votersâ¦taxes, education, property values, preserving the âfeelâ of the town we live in, and having a plan for how weâre moving forward.
The truth is, this is the first time Iâve felt so strongly that we have a candidate running who is the right person at the right time to address these issues. Iâve had the pleasure of knowing Joe Hemingway for a number of years now, and I am excited that he is willing to serve on the Board of Selectmen. Those of us in District 2 have been lucky to have him representing us on the Legislative Council for some time now; and I have no doubt the entire town will benefit from his service on the Board of Selectmen.
With Joe Hemingway, it isnât about making promises you canât keep, or saying youâll do things you canât do. Joe shows heâll do things by doing them. Joe leads by example, and Joe has a proven record of service and dedication to this town. He has worked hard for the people of this town in numerous capacities, a work ethic I know will continue on the Board of Selectmen. He has worked for education funding and senior tax relief, high school expansions and middle school repairs; knowing that one group doesnât need to lose out for another to benefit. Joe understands that by all working together this community will be better off and stronger than ever, and I have no doubt that Joe Hemingway is the person with the proven record showing he can and will bring people together. I hope you will join me in voting for Joe on November 3.
Sincerely,
Bruce Clark
