Jennie Carbone Maturo, 96, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Joseph M. Maturo, died October 7 at the Ludlowe Center of Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, October 8, 1911, she was a daughter of Frank and Anna Vendetti Carbone and was a longtime Bridgeport resident before moving to Shelton.
Survivors include a brother, Peter Carbone and his wife, Gloria, of Newtown; a son, Joseph Maturo and his wife, Claudia, of Wantagh, Long Island; two daughters, Anna Iacurci and her husband, Rex, of Trumbull and Geri Gayda and her husband, John, of Shelton; a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Carbone of Fairfield; a son-in-law, Ted Estwan of Derby; nine grandchildren, Rexanne Wargo and her husband, Dale, Rex J. Iacurci, Tanya Maturo, Robyn Reuhl and her husband, James, Ted Estwan and his wife, Cindy, Mark Estwan, Donna Burke and her husband, Gregg, Danielle Gayda, and Gabriella Maturo; great-grandchildren, Michael and Kristen Kudravy, Gregory and Jenna Iacurci, Teddy, Nicholas, and Christopher Estwan, Megan and Ryan Burke, Amanda and Mark Estwan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Estwan; four brothers, Anthony, Joseph, John, and James Carbone; and two sisters, Josephine Carbone and Florence Purciello.
Mrs Maturo was a former member of the St Margaret Shrine Altar Guild and the Ladies Guild, and the Italian Community Center. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and knitting for her family.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 10, at 9 am in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 am in St Margaret Shrine Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St Michaelâs Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, October 9, from 4 to 8 pm.
