LATIN COLLECTOR ANA DE LA CUEVA w/1 cut

ak/gs set 4-12 #696008

NEW YORK CITY — Latin Collector Gallery will present “Mending Traces,” an exhibition exploring the philosophical stitchings of the contemporary Mexican artist, Ana de la Cueva. The exhibition will run from April 26 through May 25.

Ana de la Cueva creates portraits through the re-creation of the human print, exploring the ways in which identity is captured in corporal mappings, such as foot and finger prints. For her, these marks are the living symbol of tradition, heredity, of emotional DNA.

Her camera lens first captures a person’s image and then traces with thread the prints and designs as captured by the paper. She traces the nomadic boundaries, playing with color/shapes.

Throughout her career, de la Cueva has participated in diverse collective exhibitions, and has presented her work in nine solo exhibitions worldwide. She has also left her own mark in the streets of San Francisco, Calif., and Edmonton, Ontario, with permanent art in the form of murals.

Latin Collector Gallery is at 37 West 57th Street, fourth floor. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturday, 11 am to 5 pm. For information, 212-334-7813 or www.latincollector.com.
