Meeting The Winner

Bob Collier of Newtown, left, had a chance to meet with Joseph Chebet of Kenya a few days after the running of the New York City marathon. Chebet was the winner, coming in at 2:09.14 – slightly less than two hours ahead of Mr Collier, who finished in 4:06.57. Chase Bank in New York City, a major sponsor of the marathon and Mr Collier’s employer, hosted a reception for its employees who ran in the race and Mr Chebet, Adrianna Fernandez (the women’s winner), four-time NYC marathon winner Bill Rogers and nine-time women’s NYC winner Grete Waitz made appearances.
