Hospital School Open House Set For July 11
DANBURY â Danbury Hospitalâs School of Medical Records Certificate Programs is accepting applications for the next session that runs September, 2001, through June, 2002.
The separate programs, which include medical transcription and medical coding, meet two evenings a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7 to 9:15 pm. Danbury Hospital will conduct an open house on Wednesday, July 11, at 7 pm, in the radiology classroom, located on the third floor, Tower Building.
Medical transcriptionists listen to medical professionals and make comprehensive typed reports from dictation. Medical transcription requires extensive knowledge and understanding, sound judgement, deductive reasoning, and the ability to detect medical inconsistencies in dictation.
Medical coders access health information, identify diagnosis, and assign appropriate medical codes to narrative descriptions of health diseases and procedures required for reimbursement, medical research, quality assurance, or risk management.
Program graduates are eligible to apply for employment opportunities with community physicians, nursing homes, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, veterinary offices, medical supply stores, and in a number of other areas.
Both programs require applicants to be high school graduates or to have completed an equivalency examination. Tuition for either programs is $1,200, not including textbooks. For more information or an application on either the medical transcriptionist program or the medical coding program, call Gail Lehman, program director, at 797-7195.
