Theresa (Bilardo) Soares

Theresa (Bilardo) Soares, 92, of Stratford, widow of the late Nicholas V. Soares, Sr, died on January 17 in Bridgeport Hospital after a long illness.

She was the mother of Maria Pavone of Newtown.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. Her life was her family and she will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. She was born on July 29, 1908, in Monte Calvo, Italy, and came to the United States as a child, settling in Bridgeport until she moved to Stratford 30 years ago.

She is survived by six other children, Philomena DiCosmo of Stratford, Margaret Minotti of Bridgeport, Virginia Soares of Stratford, Nicholas V. Soares, Jr, of Easton, Joseph N. Soares of Fairfield and Genevieve “Jeannie” Spata of Stratford; her sisters, Angelina Caruso of Bridgeport and Rose Lorenti of West Haven; and a brother, Tony Bilardo of Fayetteville, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services took place on January 20 from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and in St James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral director.
