Stella Melanie (Kawiecki) Ruscoe, 92, of Birch Street, in the Three Rivers section of Palmer, Mass., died on June 13. Born in Terryville, March 15, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Ignacy and Sophie (Waltersdorf) Kawiecki. She was the sister of Jeanette Kawiecki of Newtown.
Mrs Ruscoe lived in Danbury for 60 years before moving to Palmer in 1997. She retired in 1978 from Danbury High School where she worked in food service for 15 years. She had previously worked at the Lee Hat Company as a hat trimmer. She also worked many years at St Gregory the Great Rectory for Monsignor John Wigh.
Mrs Ruscoe served as treasurer of Beaver Brook School PTA for many years. She also was a member of the Germantown Firehouse Auxiliary, St Gregory the Great Guild, and the Danbury Senior Center. She loved to crochet and to garden, and had an extensive cup and saucer collection.
Mrs Ruscoe was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Forrest A. Ruscoe, in 1962.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Patricia A. Ferris of Florence, Mass., and Melanie K. Leibold and her husband Robert, Jr, of Three Rivers, Mass. She leaves two grandchildren, Dianne M. Ferris of New Hampshire, and Sean M. Leibold and his wife Jennifer of Glastonbury. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Another sister, Mae Kawiecki of Newtown, predeceased her in 2000.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, at St Gregory the Great Church in Danbury at 9:30 am followed by burial in St Peterâs Cemetery, Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury. Calling hours are Friday, June 18, from 6 to 9 pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 North Main Street (Route 20), Palmer, Mass.
