ShoreGrass To Sing At Trinity Episcopal Church, October 21
ShoreGrass To Sing At Trinity Episcopal Church, October 21
The bluegrass band ShoreGrass will perform a free concert on Saturday, October 21, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 30 Main Street. The concert will start at 4 pm.
This five member combo has performed in the local area since 1999. Barbara and Frank Shaw play guitar and banjo, Paul Pozzi performs on mandolin, and Dave Aston appears on the bass. The fifth member is guest fiddler Bill Reveley.
The groupâs music is a lively mix of traditional bluegrass, old-time, early country, gospel and folk songs as well as original pieces reflecting their roots in contemporary music. They are avid fans of old-time mountain music, as well as gospel, early country, and the music of such bluegrass pioneers as Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs and Ralph Stanley.
Several members of the group sing, providing three- and four-part harmonies. Their musicianship gives the audience an ensemble experience that demonstrates the range and uniqueness of each instrument as well as an unusually rich vocal blend, all delivered with the special sense of humor that marks all ShoreGrass performances.
In the Newtown area in recent years, ShoreGrass has been welcomes to Edmond Town Hall, Trinity Church, Newtown United Methodist Church, and heard live on WSHU and WPKN. The group is based in Branford and appears all over Fairfield and New Haven counties and greater Connecticut.
The concert is open to the public. No tickets will be sold, but a suggested donation of $10 will be requested at the door. A public reception will follow the concert.
The concert is sponsored by Music at Trinity, a group dedicated to offering diverse musical events in the fine performance space of the Trinity Church sanctuary. In April 2007 the a cappella group Counterpoint will return to Trinity.
