ETH Mural Tours, Sunday
During the hours of the 14th Annual Holiday Festival this weekend, artist David Merrill will be on hand to discuss his extensive murals at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown.
Mr Merrill will discuss the many landmark buildings and views, and the historical personalities past and present, that are depicted on the walls of the town hall building. He will answer questions pertaining to his work, which was recently completed after almost ten years of effort by the celebrated Newtown artist.
The event is open to the public, free of charge. Tours will begin at 11:30 am, 1, 2 and 3 pm on Sunday, December 5. Anyone interested in the tours should meet in the town hallâs lobby.
In addition to the tours, Mr Merrill will be available to personalize his limited edition color lithograph, âNewtown, Connecticut.â The unframed print, depicting a view looking up Church Hill Road at Newtownâs famous flagpole and the buildings of Trinity Church, Newtown Meeting House and Bee Publishing Company, sells for $40.
Proceeds from the sale directly benefit Newtown Historical Society and Newtown Meeting House. Recently reprinted, Mr Merrillâs earlier âNewtown, Connecticut,â a winter view, will also be available for purchase.
