‘Nuts’ Auditions At Theater Barn

RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield Theater Barn will host open auditions for Nuts, written by Tom Topor, to be directed by Sherry Asch, on Sunday and Monday, March 18 and 19, from 7 to 10 pm each night.

Set in a courtroom in New York’s Bellevue Hospital, the story follows a high-priced call girl incarcerated on a charge for killing a violent john. A court appointed psychiatrist and an aggressive prosecutor say Claudia Faith Draper is unfit to stand trial for manslaughter. As testimony from experts, physicians and her parents unfolds, Claudia’s psyche and childhood are dissected, and she must prove that she is not crazy, but legally sane to stand trial.

There are roles for nine performers. Scripts will be provided during the auditions, but actors can see character breakdowns online at RidgefieldTheaterBarn.org (click Mainstage Summary, then scroll down to the calendar listing for Nuts and click on Auditions).

Rehearsals will be scheduled by the director. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, June 1-23, and late Sunday afternoons, June 10 and 17. Additional performances may be added.
