HARRIET MOORE BALLARD AT BONFOEY GALLERY OCT. 12 w/1 cut
avv/gs set 9/24 #713316
CLEVELAND, OHIO â The fresh, new abstract compositions of Harriet Moore Ballard will be displayed at The Bonfoey Gallery, October 12âNovember 10 in the exhibition, âOrder & Chaos.â
Moore Ballard received a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art, with minors in drawing and printmaking, in 1987. She received her master of fine arts degree from the Instituto de Allende, San Miguel de Allende, Gto Mexico â where she later built a home and studio. Moore Ballard has lived and worked in Mexico for a portion of each year for approximately 18 years. She has shown her work in galleries in Cleveland, as well as in San Miguel de Allende.
These abstract compositions are almost whimsical as the primitively stylized oil stick drawings and phrases innocently bumble around the canvas space. Moore Ballard couples random figures with neat grids and ordered patterns for contrast.
Layering of paint fields and oil drawings are not only a part of her process, but are integral to the thorough, balanced look, feel and overall aesthetic of these works.
The gallery is at 1710 Euclid Avenue. For information, www.bonfoey.com or 216-621-0178.
