‘Innocent’ Fun

To the Editor:

Just a few lines stating an opinion about the recent vandalism in Newtown via the illegal removal of street signs.

No matter how much the cost and/or how long the sentence, no one pays a penalty anywhere close to the grief and anguish of the families who lose loved ones, due to such irrational actions. The people who removed stop and/or yield signs need, among other punishment, to be introduced to a family who lost a member because of similar “innocent” fun.

Once one speaks to a mother, father, sibling or child of such a killed or maimed person, he/she will never, again, find any fun in this or other, similarly meaningless, activity. In addition, whether caught or not, they will need to live with the nightmarish realization that they took the life of another who was truly “innocent.”

Parents, share this with your children, with love and compassion.
