Multiple Charges

Newtown police arrested a Brookfield woman on three warrants at Danbury Superior Court on December 17, charging her with seven criminal offenses.

Police charged Diane Dimone, 32, with two counts of issuing a bad check, two counts of sixth-degree larceny, and one count each of third-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny, and second-degree failure to appear in court.

Police said the arrests stem incidents in which Dimone allegedly passed bad checks and took merchandise in 2007. Police said local businesses and a resident were the victims.

Dimone was arraigned on the charges in court on December 17.

Four Vehicles

Police report an incident in which two two-vehicle accidents occurred near one another on westbound Berkshire Road at its intersection with High Rock Road at about 9:45 am December 15.

The two accidents occurred when westbound traffic slowed in order to allow a westbound vehicle to make a left turn onto High Rock Road, according to police.

In the incident, motorist Shamika Cancel, 24, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1997 Acura Integra, drove into the rear end of a 2000 Ford Escort driven by Marion Perry, 47, of Hamden, police said.

In a separate nearby collision, motorist David Untiedt, 46, of Burlington, who was driving a 2007 Dodge Durango, drove into the rear end of a 2002 Honda CRV driven by Stephan Sichler, 37, of Greenwich, police said.

There were no injuries, according to police. Police said they issued both Cancel and Untiedt infraction tickets for following too closely.

Toyota Into Sign

Police report that motorist Syed Mumtaz, 53, of Milford was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry southward on Main Street, near its intersection with Martin Street, on December 16 when the auto went out of control, skidded to the right and struck a road sign.

Mumtaz was not injured. Mumtaz received a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
