NITROS 2, MIDDLEBURY 1: Newtown began its regular season schedule in thrilling fashion, winning a hard-fought game by a score of 2-1. Rose Jackman and Darcy Fiscella struck the Nitro goals, with offensive support by Mary Ellen Sloan and Heather Young. Meredith Palo had a great second half in goal to help shut down Middlebury and preserve the win.

RAGE 5, NEW FAIRFIELD 0: Michael Klein and Chris Nuelle scored two goals apiece and Nick Sando added a solo to lead the Rage past New Fairfield. Joe Rahtelli, Eric MacKnight and Jack Quinn all recorded saves. Steve Marks made nine saves in goal and received defensive support from Mark Cinquegrana and Justin Durelli.

NAVIGATORS 3, DANBURY 2: Ashley Braun, Harriet Morgan and Rachel Maley all scored as the Navigators nipped Danbury in the season opener. Gabby Nastri, Julie Landin, Jackie Petrasanta and Christie Attansio anchored a newly-revamped defense. Maggie Kimball, Caroline Kraich and Claire Ober were instrumental in keeping the offense flowing and Bethany Morin was solid in goal.

Colchester Spring Soccer Classic

The Newtown Vipers won four games and captured Colchester Spring Soccer Classic Tournament title. The Vipers scored 21 goals and allowed just two.
VIPERS_6, WESTBROOK_II 0: Paul Andras, Max Hoagland (2), Kevin_Troy, and Anthony Florez all scored as Newtown blasted Westbrook. Nick Kallivrousis and Drew Taylor controlled midfield play while Danny Smith and Jason Smith shared the tenderâs duties and recorded the shutout for Newtown.
VIPERS_5, COLCHESTER_1: Paul Andras scored three goals while Justin_Miller and Max Hoagland added one apiece to lead the Vipers to the win. Chris Schreiber, Ethan Canfield, Jason Smith and Kevin Davies anchored the defense.
VIPERS 6, ROCKY_HILL 1: Alex Bowen scored a pair of goals while Paul Andras, Anthony Florez, Kevin_Troy, Max Hoagland and Justin_Miller all scored in the win. Mat DeBrantes was solid on D. J Smith played aggressively along with Taylor in midfield while D Smith and Bowen shared the goalie duties.
VIPERS 4, ROCKY_HILL_0: In the finals, Paul Andras notched his seventh tournament goal in the second minute and the Vipers were on their way to the title. Anthony Florez scored a pair of goals and Kevin_Troy added a solo. Once again Schreiber, DeBrantes, Davies and Canfield were the unsung heroes on defense.

HURRICANES 3, BERKSHIRE UNITED 0: With Megan Hansen scoring the first goal of the spring season assisted by Kristine Zadrovitz, the Hurricanes continued their undefeated play from the fall. Consistent offense pressure applied by Genna Scheuerell and Emily Weber finally wore down Uniteds defense. Tania Domingo was the beneficiary as she posted two unassisted goals in the second half for the margin of victory. Cassie David earned the shutout in goal.

TORNADOES 3, SCREAMING NIGHTMARES 0: Emma Whitley-Rodriguez, Molly Day and Kate Bowen all scored to lead the Tornadoes to their first win of the season. Allison Modzelewski had an outstanding all-around game. For the Nightmares, Erica Green, Margaret Cozens, Maggie Korth and Alina Schwartz all played well on the defensive side of the ball for the Nightmares.
