Moving Into The Next Phase Of Life, With Mixed Emotions
To the Editor:
It’s with mixed emotions that we write this letter. Sadly, Mackey’s, Newtown’s own RadioShack dealer store, in Sand Hill Plaza, is closing its doors on October 25.
We come from humble beginnings. We bought the RadioShack franchise from Ethel and Phil Herbert (Effie and Hoppy) of Herb’s Electronics, next to Country Pizza, in July 1982, and were there for five years. In 1987 we had the opportunity to move to our own store in Toll Gate Plaza, Monroe. In November of 1990 you welcomed us into Sand Hill Plaza, where we have remained for the past 25 years. This was the “big time” for us.
We have enjoyed serving the wonderful people of Newtown, Monroe, and the surrounding towns for the past 33 years. We want to express our appreciation for your support and loyalty, as you have become like family to us. We’ve enjoyed watching your children grow up and we’ve been saddened by the loss of your loved ones.
We’ve given you the very best service that we could. We helped the kids with school science projects and wired up Mom’s cordless phone. Our staff has been there for every electronic challenge you have given us.
Now it’s time for us to retire and go on to the next phase in our lives. We will miss you very much and wish we could have stayed forever.
