Volunteers Helped Make Science Fun
To the Editor:
On March 20, the Newtown Junior Womenâs Club and the Newtown Board of Education presented its 12th annual Discovery Science, Math & Technology Workshops at the Newtown High School. Thanks to the many volunteers and donors whose generosity allowed this program to be provided free of charge to over 450 children.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the workshop leaders: Gary Argraves, Dr Rick Asselta, Jim Barber, John Battick, Dr John Boruso, Wendy Borst, Jim Boyle, Chane Cullens, Tanya Cutolo, Dan Dalton, Sara Davis, Liz Elia, Dawn and Nicole Escoda, Lisa Foote, Diane Goodrich, Mat Kastner, Ted and Allyson Makuch, Alan and Alison McEmber, Bob Mitchell, Newtown Emergency Medical Services, Bob Nute, Dr Debra Pollack-Wollman, Dr Rita Powers, John Reed, Mary Jac Reed, Rich Robinson, Michael Salvatore, Dr Steven Sieber, David Smith, Mike and Eric Stackpole from CTRA-NARCONN, Elizabeth Stevens, Beth Terhaar, Dr Daniel Wollman and Ann Ziluck.
We would also like to thank the many students who spent their Saturday morning assisting NJWC in every capacity from escorting and/or babysitting our children, assisting leaders, and moving chairs. And of course, many thanks to all who attended and supported the Scholastic Book Fair. The proceeds help fund this program, as well as our Back to School Back Pack Program, Tag-A-Gift Program, and Time for Life.
We hope everyone had an enjoyable experience discovering the joy and wonder of science, math, and technology. Our hope is that your children have learned that science, math, and technology can be fun.
