Obstinacy Costs Taxpayers
Obstinacy Costs Taxpayers
To the Editor:
Since July 2004, Newtown educational assistants have been without a renewed contract or raises already covered in the budget. After failed negotiation and mediation sessions, arbitration talks are not anticipated to begin until December 1, 2005. The contract renewal process has been lengthened by Board of Education obstinacy and is not without taxpayer cost.
Newtown taxpayer dollars spent fighting educational assistant contract (as of 3/31/05): $18,899.23.
Additional taxpayer expenditures until contract settlement: $$$,$$$.$$.
Cost of Board of Education unreasonableness: Priceless?
I donât think so.
